Xing Ren Xiang Dancong
Xing Ren Xiang, meaning “Almond Aroma,” is a distinctive Dancong oolong from the Phoenix Mountain region of Guangdong Province. It is recognised for its nutty, gently spicy fragrance and a composed, grounding character that contrasts with more floral Dancong styles.
Origin & Background
Produced from selected Dancong cultivars in Phoenix Mountain, Xing Ren Xiang derives its name from a natural aromatic profile reminiscent of almond and light spice. These characteristics arise from cultivar genetics and processing, not from added flavoring.
Processing & Oxidation
Xing Ren Xiang undergoes extended withering and careful bruising to promote aromatic development. Oxidation is typically moderate to moderately high, supporting nutty and spice-like notes. A light to moderate roast is applied to stabilise the tea and reinforce its warm character.
- Oxidation level: Moderate to moderately high
- Roasting: Light to moderate, supportive
Sensory Profile
- Aroma: Almond, light spice, warm grain
- Flavor: Nutty sweetness, gentle spice, soft fruit undertones
- Mouthfeel: Smooth, rounded, steady
Caffeine & Character
Xing Ren Xiang contains a moderate level of caffeine. Its warmer aromatic profile and balanced oxidation often produce a calm, centred, and grounding energy.
Brewing Guidance
Gongfu-style brewing brings out Xing Ren Xiang’s layered warmth. Slightly higher water temperatures can enhance nutty depth, while short infusions maintain balance and smoothness.
Storage & Enjoyment
Xing Ren Xiang is best enjoyed within a fresh window, when its nutty aromatics are clear and integrated. Store airtight, away from heat, light, and strong odors to preserve its character.
